Depending on your citizenship or country of long-term residence, you may need to secure a visa before traveling to Korea. With a round-trip ticket, you have permission to stay for 30 days. Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand citizens can stay for up to 90 days. To find out what your particular visa requirements are please visit the official website of the Korean foreign ministry;

Should you need a visa to travel to Korea, you will need to officially apply for your visa at the Korean Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence, providing a letter of invitation. The letter of invitation establishes the purpose of your trip to Korea and provides information on your proposed stay in Korea.

The APLA2015 Secretariat can assist you with obtaining a letter of invitation.

Obtaining a letter of invitation

To obtain a letter of invitation from the APLA2015 Secretariat, please request an invitation letter individually to APLA2015 Secretariat with your scanned copy of passport at

The APLA 2015 Secretariat will return a duly signed copy of your letter of invitation to you by e-mail. The signed letter of invitation that you receive must be presented to the Korean Embassy or Consulate where you apply for your visa. Please note that the letter of invitation does not substitute for a visa to travel to and enter Korea.
